Region of origin: Native to the Eastern United States
Habitat:Can be grown in average to wet soil moisture and would prefer full to part sun. Best growing conditions would be acid and fertile soils in an area soil can remain cool and moist. The tree can tolerate some drought and heavy clay soils as well.
Species Speculations:They are typically between 40’-70’ at maturity with a canopy spread of 40’-60’, trunks will be around 2’ wide but can get much wider. River birches can be expected to live 50-150 years, though in urban areas this time is dwarfed to a mere 3-4 decades.
